The Dlamini family

Artists hand build each face from a simple lump of clay filled with thought and personal expression. The sculptured piece atop the head represents a thought or daily chore and is inspired by the method of transporting goods on the head  so common here in Africa.

Each Dlamini is individually constructed then raku fired with a variety of coloured glazes. The firing process of Raku gives each Dlamini its own personal colour variations and crackle effects.
